In the past I have shared DIY projects like this “No Sew Pinch Pleat Curtain Hack” and I have even created guides for hanging curtains like a pro, but for some reason I haven’t shared my favorite curtains in a blog post yet. Shopping for curtains can be tricky—especially if you’re shopping for them online. When shopping for home finds like curtains, I really like to be able to feel the weight, texture and thickness of the fabric. Now, obviously that’s not possible to do through a computer screen, so I purchased 7 highly rated curtains and drapes from Amazon so I could get a feel for them..literally. Being able to actually touch a product makes all the difference. Of course there are thousands and thousands of great curtains out there, so I’m not saying this is an all-inclusive or exhaustive test of the absolute best curtains, but I did think it would be fun to help narrow down the search for you and choose a handful of Amazon’s best-selling drapes and review them for you. Let’s get to it!
My Top 3 Amazon Curtains
I will be reviewing each curtain, but I did want to start off by showing you my top 3 curtain finds from Amazon. Each of these curtains impressed me and are an Amazon win in my book. If you are in the market for new window treatments in your bedroom, dining room or living room, these are the best Amazon curtains I tried. Aside from the quality, I am such a fan of how budget friendly these curtain panels are. There’s nothing better than refreshing a room in your home and being able to find beautiful products that are affordable.
O1. Luxe Green Velvet Curtains
I am a sucker for all things green and all things velvet, so when I came across these curtains I just knew I had to get them. Honestly, I am in love with them. The velvet is nice and thick which makes them look extra luxurious. They aren’t technically blackout curtains, but they do the job because of how thick the velvet is and because the green is a darker color. I considered hanging these in my dining room, but the shade of green was just a bit off unfortunately.
02. Blackout Pinch Pleat Curtains
I have previously ordered these in blue and they are gorgeous! I wanted to try out their version of white to see just how white they are. If you are in the market for a budget friendly pinch pleat option, these are a major win. I would say the white is a little more off white than pure bright white but the color of your walls and lighting will really determine just how white they appear in your space. These are blackout and would elevate any bedroom!
03. White Textured Curtains
I am super impressed with these! I ordered them because they look similar to the Ikea Ritva Curtains I have hanging in my living room. I wanted to see just how similar they really are because I’m not able to link my Ikea curtains and people always ask about them. They texture of the fabric is extremely close to my Ikea curtains. I would say the biggest difference between these Amazon look-a-likes is the fact that the Amazon curtains have a cooler hue when the light filters in as opposed to the warmer color of the Ikea curtains. The curtains look almost exactly the same side-by-side. These curtains are semi-sheer, so they may not be ideal if you want a lot of privacy. These textured curtains are definitely worth the buy!
Curtains vs Drapes
Wondering the difference between curtains and drapes? There’s actually some debate as to what qualifies strictly as a curtain rather than a drape. But these days they are used interchangeably on most home decor sites. You’ll see my options below all mention “curtains” but some technically fall under the “drape” category.
The general consensus (and how I think of it) is that drapes have more permanence than curtains, and often have a more formal look. Drapes are usually made of heavier fabrics than curtains, and they aren’t as easy to change out. Drapes are often decided upon as part of your window treatment, whereas curtains are easy to swap in and out—they tend to be less expensive and available in a wider variety of colors, patterns, and prints than drapes.
If you’re deciding whether to purchase curtains or drapes, here are a few things you should consider:
Are you going for a more formal, or more relaxed look? Drapes can give off a formal or timeless luxury feel, but curtains make a room feel more lived-in and laidback (that said, this varies depending on the design!) Drapes are also pleated, whereas curtains most often fall straight from the curtain rod.
How often will you change out your style? I love the ease of curtains because they could be updated for each season if you choose. It’s an easy, budget-friendly decor swap that doesn’t require a major commitment. This is also helpful in kids bedrooms as you can easily update the style as they grow.
How much light do you want to let in? While curtains have tons of blackout options these days, drapes are designed to provide more privacy and block more light with their heavier weight. You won’t typically find sheer or semi-sheer drapes; if that’s your style you’ll want to opt for curtains.
What looks best with your windows? Historically drapes have been designed as a full-length window treatment, whereas curtains can run in various lengths depending on your needs. But this has changed a lot in recent times, with curtains offering more formal and full-length options too. In the end, you want to choose something that goes best with your windows, walls, and the furniture and decor surrounding them!

Here are a few more tried and true curtains (and some drapes) from Amazon! These may have not ranked in. my Top 3, but that doesn’t mean they aren’t great curtains.
04. Velvet Curtains
I had a hard time not putting these in my top 3 best curtain finds, but they are definitely some of my favs. They give off the luxury “drape” feel while being easy to swap in and out. I actually ordered 3 different colors of these curtain panels—Luxe Green, Pillow White, and the ones shown in the picture (Avalon Blue).
I can’t get over how gorgeous the shade of blue is—they look even more incredible in person! This are sure to elevate any room of your home. They are room darkening and they provide ample privacy—ideal for bedrooms or even your living room. There are several other color options available!
The color option “Pillow White” are a true white—if there ever was such a thing! It can be so hard to describe different shades of white. This is a brighter white, but it doesn’t have a cool bluish undertone to it. These curtains also don’t have a warm tone to them. They are indeed white, but because they’re made of a rich velvet they don’t allow light to filter in.
Pro Tip: I do recommend having a steamer on hand if you purchase any of the velvet curtains in this post because once you unfold them and hang them up there will be fold lines on them.
05. Linen Blackout Curtains
Who doesn’t love a good blackout curtain?! I for sure do! This is a heavier fabric that gives off the look of a linen. These will add a small amount of texture to any space. I will say that curtain rings are included when you buy these curtains but I would hang them using drapery hooks and ring instead. The provided hooks give off a cheaper vibe to me, Using drapery pins and hanging those on rings will really elevate the look. These are fully blackout curtains so they would work great in a bedroom to keep all the sunlight out. There are several color and size options to choose from!
06. Black & White Plaid Curtains
These were a lot more sheer than I thought the would be. Light is able to beautifully filter through these curtains, but if privacy is what you’re looking for in your new curtains, then these might not be for you. I do think these could potentially look farmhouse-ish if you aren’t careful but in the right space, they would be beautiful! The only hanging option for these is rod pocket which I wouldn’t do. I would use drapery pins and hang those on rings to elevate the look. There is one other color option available, but I prefer the black and white option. These budget friendly curtains can definitely help achieve a light and airy look in your home because of the natural light they allow to filter in.
07. Triple Weave Pinch Pleat Curtains
These curtain panels are one of my most asked about questions! I ordered them for our guest bedroom downstairs to separate the bedroom space from my office space. It is a large room and I needed to figure out a way to maximize the space without it looking like too much was going on. Enter these drapes and a traverse rod!
